Situated on the edge of the village of Haselbury Plucknett in beautiful South Somerset, North Down Orchard offers the rustic charm of a working cider farm for holidays, weddings, parties, events or just a great evening out.
The farm has been growing cider apples since the 70’s, originally for Taunton Cider, then for Magners. Run by the third generation of the Mangles family, we now make our own cider for The Cider Barn as well as supplying apple juice to many craft cider makers throughout the UK.
The orchards, meadows, farmyard and barns as well as the family and staff welcome visitors to experience the best of Somerset countryside and hospitality at this idyllic location.

North Down Farm
North Down Orchard is more than just a cider farm, it’s a place where celebrations come to life, weddings in our apple orchards, parties in the cider barn, long-table Mexican feasts under the stars, or simply a relaxed evening with friends, cider in hand, and music in the air.

With sweeping orchards, characterful barns, and a warm, down-to-earth team ready to welcome you, this is Somerset hospitality at its most authentic.

Pip to Pint - Our Cider
At North Down Orchard, cider isn’t just made, it’s nurtured from the ground up. The apples are grown in traditional Somerset orchards, they are pressed on site and slowly create a cider that’s full of depth and character. Every bottle reflects the rhythm of the seasons, the richness of the soil, and a family’s deep-rooted passion for honest, handcrafted cider.
Served at The Cider Barn just a stone’s throw from where it’s made, it doesn’t get much more local than this.

Dogs & Kids
Dogs and kids are very welcome at North Down Orchard.
We love seeing muddy paws and grass-stained knees racing through the orchards, but we do ask that both are well-behaved and kept an eye on (yes, that includes overexcited dads too).
There’s plenty of space to run, roam and sniff (preferably just the dogs), and we’re all for joyful chaos, as long as someone’s in charge of the pack!
Stay on our farm
Wake up to the sound of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves in the orchards, with sweeping views across the South Somerset countryside. Whether you’re here for a romantic escape, a family gathering, or a cider-fuelled weekend with friends, the farm offers a truly memorable setting. Think cosy evenings around the firepit, morning strolls through dew-covered meadows, and the scent of apples in the air. It’s a place to unplug, unwind, and soak up the rhythm of rural life—cider in hand, of course.
